REFLECTION

These are mock up designs of scientific valentines cards with varying degrees of stereotypical romance in them. They all have the same text which is the technical response of goosebumps. I found this exercise very interesting in playing with what makes something recognisable as a valentines card. As I wrote about in my proposal I based the success of the cards based on other peoples opinions as I think I'm too close to the work to be objective. the interesting thing was finding out which was the most popular (bottom left) because the one that I would buy is the top right design. this was interesting to me because it shows what people are drawn to. I think the the top left is the most clinical and fits best with what aesthetic I'm trying to achieve but in my research I found that people are drawn to the bottom left because it is more recognisable as a valentines card. I'm also happy this was the most popular because it includes the chemical heart I designed so I can use this as branding for other pieces I create. I think the two on the right are funnier with the bottom right being the funniest because it draws so strongly on the stereotypes of valentines cards (pink, hearts, flowers etc) but the text is so far from the romantic rap usually found on cards of similar designs. in order to carry on and even I am going to take my idea for the bottom left further because its simplicity can lend itself to other products but it still keeps a bit of the humour I was trying to achieve without turning it into a joke.
