Blister packaging is the type used for pills where you pop them out of the packet through a sheet of foil. As the other medicines I wanted to package are in bottles I thought this would look more interesting and be more ambitious. researching how to produce it did prove quite testing as the only available pre made packs were sold on an industrial scale so I decided to make it for myself.

The package itself consists of a clear plastic dish for the pills to sit in and a foil layer sealed top with a design on it. I looked into how the foil covering is made on an industrial scale and its printed with a laser cut rubber stamp. as I don't have access to the right kind of laser I was initially told to etch print onto the foil but her found out this wouldn't work because the foil isn't absorbent so that was a time set back but did mean I got to try out more process as in the end I screen printed the design onto the foil.

Creating the dish was quite simple as it it vacuum formed however I tried it the first time with m&ms and it didn't occur to anyone including myself that chocolate melts under that heat so the first trial failed miserably. the second trial I did with pills which I will actually use in the final piece. the pills are white but I want to play around with colour a bit to fit more to my brand and for the first trial I glued that layers together with a glue stick but I think for the next one pva will be more suitable
